Veneziafiere, V|07 Venice VideoArt Fair, Island of San Servolo, Venice,
Italy, 6/8-9
Thursday 7th June 2007, together with the 52nd International Art
Exhibition of the Biennale in Venice, the Island of San Servolo is the
flood-lit stage of Light on San Servolo. Thanks to the cooperation
between the Province of Venice, San Servolo Servizi and Veneziafiere,
the second weekend of June will see the Island of San Servolo turning
into a crossroads of cultures with exhibitions, performances and shows,
with special attention paid to video art. Veneziafiere presents the
second edition of V|07 - Venice VideoArt Fair, an event exclusively
dedicated to video, which this year will see the presence of the most
dynamic international galleries involved in the dissemination of this
language. Designed and directed by Raffaele Gavarro. http://www.studiopesci.it/ |

April Place in a Flat World, LiveBox at Three Walls Gallery, Chicago, IL, 4/13-19
Place n. area, location, locus, point, position, site, situation, spot, station, venue, whereabouts, city, district, hamlet, locale, locality, neighborhood, quarter, region, town, village... source: Collins Thesaurus. We could add "web" to the above, just where are we when we're surfing the web? There is much hype about a world that is becoming flatter and more homogenized through globalization, yet the artists in this exhibition, find poetry, mystery, singularity and history in their immediate environs. |

June Signal Channel, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha NE

Reel 3, 7/21/06 - 8/12/06, inaugral screening Friday July 21, 7pm
"SIGNAL CHANNEL explores three distinct aspects of video as an art form and occupies the majority of the Bemis Center's three gallery spaces. This exhibition not only charts the development of video art within the Bemis Center's Artist-in-Residence studios, but it also addresses contemporary concerns within the media itself, such as video art's relationship to objects and the processes employed to move the medium beyond its pedestrian function as a documentary tool. Although video installations have been shown in Omaha previously, this is the first time a video art exhibition this comprehensive in nature will be on view in Nebraska. As a true multi-faceted exhibition, SIGNAL CHANNEL explores video art as a medium and demonstrates the video artist's power to experiment, explore and test the parameters of conventional art-making practices."
